Dan Witz is a Brooklyn-based street artist and painter, best known for his hyperrealistic paintings of mosh pits. Witz’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is also been featured on the cover of Juxtapoz Magazine and in The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, TIME Magazine, New York Magazine and ARTINFO amongst many others. Released in 2010 by Ginko Press, the monograph In Plain View documents 30 years of Witz’s career including works created both on the street and in the studio.
Most recently, Witz’s mosh pit paintings were featured as part of a collaboration with luxury fashion brand Dior Homme for their AW17 collection. To celebrate this pairing The Garage has published a limited edition print (see print image below).
‘The print’s imagery is a great representation of the collaboration between me and Dior Homme. Not only does it reference the mosh pit paintings and the wonderful HarDior clothing, but the skate deck shape adds an element of the street, the place where Kris Van Assche and I both find inspiration,’ says Witz.
