The work of artist Craig Redman (half of duo Craig & Karl) focuses on portraiture, mixing heavy black lines with sharp & colourful geometric patterns. His portraits break down his subject’s face & focuses on individual elements, the same attention being give to an earlobe as an eye. Redman’s portraits are a snap shot in time, usually capturing the sitter over new technology, Skype or smart phone, playing off the contemporary idea of a quick exchange of media. The placid expressions create a uniformity across the subjects despite their sometimes different backgrounds.
Redman debuted his first solo exhibition in 2010 at the lauded Colette, Paris, and has continued to exhibit both solo & in group shows in the United States & abroad to much critical acclaim.
